Corvos Astro Engineering Ltd was formed in September 2010 by Dr Michael Corbett, a trained physicist and experience propulsion scientist, who is a graduate of Queens University Belfast.
After working in the Aerospace and Space Industry for nearly 10 years, on projects such as the T5 ion thruster for ESA’s “Gravity field and Ocean Circulation earth Explorer mission” (GOCE), the development of the radio frequency twin-ended thruster, MiDGIT (Miniaturised Differential Gridded Ion Thruster) and upgrades to the Allison 3007 and Trent 800 jet engine controller software, Michael felt it was time to combine his experience and knowledge in a way that could provide real value and insight for customers.
Corvos Astro Engineering has 3 main goals:
1) To put Simple Space Systems into orbit and put them there cheaply – A typical system might be a small 10 cm Cubesat where various technologies are tested. These technologies could be made in universities or small businesses…or be Corvos AE technologies.
2) To try and do cool things in space – If it is possible to do something revolutionary and do it with panache then we should try!
3) To help engineers and scientists have an easier career and life – this means showing them that relying on a job for a salary, a pension and expecting pay raises and benefits is not going to make you rich or happy. Strong words, yes, but this company is dedicated to creating material to help create options that incidently make you more relaxed at your job – and arguably better at it!
